Thomas County Sheriff's Deputies along with animal control officers were alerted to a case of animal cruelty at 952 Martin Road in Boston.

That's where officers found four badly deprived pit bulls chained up in the yard of Bell, age 23.

Humane Society officials say the dogs were lacking food and were infested with heart worms, intestinal parasites and ringworm.

Bell was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.

Humane society officials say if the dogs were not found, they could of died within a month due to lack of medical treatment.
