Bryan Campbell is charged with authorizing or permitting
cruelty to an animal, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 1 year in prison
and a maximum $1000 fine. Campbell became angry with Stella, his 1-year-old blonde puppy when she defecated
on the floor of his Roxbury home and asked his cousins John and Raymond to "get rid of the dog".
John of Brockton and Raymond of
East Boston, drove Stella to a fence post in a Jamaica Plains alley,
tied her up and began stabbing her with a buck knife. A nearby Northeastern University detective heard the dog crying came upon
the scene and saw the two men running away. Both are charged with cruelty
to animals and maliciously maiming an animal and face up to 6 years in prison
and a maximum fine of $1000 each.
An arraignment hearing is scheduled
for November 30th, 1993 in West Roxbury District Court.
