A 21-year-old Burlington man was arrested April 3 on allegations of cruelty to animals in the death of a 7-month-old cat in the 200 block of E. Market St. The man told authorities he killed the cat by hitting it in the head with a large stick after he became angry when the cat scratched him. He dumped the animal in a trash bin.
