| Carol Ashley |
Imprisoned and starved 136 dogs |
Hackett, AR |
June 1998 |
Many of the dogs suffered from mange and had open sores and hairless bodies, some were ill, and others were emaciated. Ashley chains others to metal barrels or keeps them in darkened feces-filled trailers. When PETA's rescue division flew to Arkansas to assist law enforcement officials and the River Valley Humane Society in intervening to help the animals. Ashley threatened to shoot anyone who set foot on her property, Gary Grimes the Sebastian Country Sheriff, and Wendy Johnson, The District Attorney refused to serve a warrant on her because of the threats.
The case remains open.
Below are some of the graphic pictures of Ashley's inhumane treatment of her animals.
Malnourished dogs, Pups covered in feces, Too many dogs/pups in uninhabitable conditions

Puppies with eye infections, More malnourished dogs
Update June 2002: Ashley is now living in Mena, (Polk County) Arkansas.
