Bagwell, 26 of Mannington, is charged with nighttime burglary, a felony and
animal cruelty, a misdemeanor.
On July 8, police were called to a home on Wiley Street, after a friend of the homeowner noticed the front door was open while the homeowner was at work.
According to the criminal complaint, when the friend looked inside the house, she saw Bagwell engaged in sexual intercourse with the homeowner's dog.
Bagwell had gone through the home and its gun cabinet, as well, the complaint says.
Bagwell was arrested and was free on bond.
Update 2/4/10: Bagwell pleaded guilty to felony charges in Marion County Circuit Court.
Mannington resident Christopher Adam Bagwell was formally charged with nighttime burglary and felony animal cruelty for the July incident. Marion Assistant Prosecutor Jeff Freeman said Bagwell, who was indicted in October, pleaded guilty to the animal-cruelty charge before Judge David R. Janes and is awaiting sentencing.
Update 3/31/10: Bagwell's attorney asked Judge David Janes to place him on home confinement because inmates were harassing him since he's been in jail.
Judge Janes denied that request and sentenced Bagwell to 1 to 5 years.
