Alleged

White River Junction District Court

A Springfield man has denied charges that he shot his neighbor's dog and then pointed the gun at the dog's owner.

Christopher E. Polidor, 49, pleaded innocent in White River Junction District Court on Tuesday to charges of reckless endangerment and animal cruelty .

Polidor allegedly shot the 1½-year-old white German shepherd that belonged to Michelle and Steve Walker of Spencer Hollow Road on after it and the Walker's other dog approached him in a threatening manner, according to an affidavit filed by Mark Fountain of the Springfield Police Department.

But Polidor allegedly threatened to kill both dogs some days before the actual shooting took place because he said the pets had attacked and killed his cat of 15 years, the affidavit said.

After he shot the dog, Polidor allegedly aimed the gun in the direction of Michelle Walker, who was out walking the pets, according to court records.

If convicted of both crimes, Polidor could face up to two years in jail and $3,000 in fines.
