The Monterey County Sheriff's Department says three people are in jail in connection with a cockfighting operation.
Deputies raided the cockfight and seized more that five dozen birds and detained 11 other people for questioning.
Officials say 150 to 200 people fled the event off of Carmel Valley Road when it was raided.
Deputies also found 12 dead birds, weighing scales and razor blades, which were confiscated.
Other birds were found with injuries—the fighting cocks are outfitted with razor blades, which they use to rip each other apart.
