Who Abandoned Casey and his sibling |
Manchester, NH |
April, 1989 |
In April 1989 during an ice storm a little black shaggy dog was found running
down the middle of Second St. in Manchester, NH.
The dog was about 6 months old at that time. The finder of the dog put an ad in the paper and notified the police department that he had found the dog should anyone want to claim him. What transpired was a call from another person who found an identical dog in the same area. This led them to believe that the someone had abandoned some unwanted puppies.
The person who found the puppy (and named him Casey) already had another dog and weren't looking for another one, took him in and gave him a home for almost 12 years.
On February 8, 2001 the finder of Casey put a Letter to the Editor in the newspaper to send a message to the person(s) who abandoned these puppies. "Shame on you! They wrote. "How hard would it have been for you to take those animals to a shelter? While Casey's guardian despises the method of getting rid of Casey and his sibling they must also say thanks! Had you done the right thing we would never had the privilege of knowing him".
Casey died and he is very much missed. "He was a great dog". "You'll never know what you so carelessly threw away. Your loss!
The person(s) who abandoned these puppies will never know how great this throwaway dog was.
