A rash of cat and dog torturing continues with the case of a cat who's tail was set on fire on the city's west side.

A letter carrier said some juveniles tortured the cat on El Paso St.  The Animal Defense League was called and the female kitten, believed to be about 8-months old was rescued.

  (Photo courtesy of WOAI)  The cats tail will be amputated, but the kitten should survive.  The letter carrier has identified the home where the juveniles live and arrests are expected.

Police report a disturbing rash of animal mutilations in the past month, including a cat that was burned with acid, a cat which was killed in Castle Hills and a dog that was stabbed on the city's east side.

An anonymous donor has allowed the ADL to up the reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible to $5,000.  Anyone with information are asked to contact the San Antonio Police at 210-207-7484.
