Authorities obtained a warrant to seize 120 horses, miniature ponies and donkeys.  The court records gave the county possession of the animals so they can be put up for adoption.

Emergency medical treatment was needed for some of the animals.  They will be placed with volunteers temporarily, or taken to land owned by the county.

Tips from callers led animal services to the ranch in the 4000 block of Northeast Highway 315 in Fort McCoy.

Derby owns the property and has taken in abused animals but her friends say she was overwhelmed and unable to care for all of the animals by herself.

Officials believe more animals may be hidden in other locations.  Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the animals is urged to call Marion County Animal Services at 352-671-8727.
