A Vermont man who allegedly shot a neighbor’s dog to death was released on condition that he have no contact with the neighbor.
Sixty-one-year-old Gerald Davignon, Sr. is charged with animal cruelty and causing a fatality in the Oct. 14 incident. He pleaded not guilty in Orleans District Court. Deputy Sheriff Ken Richardson says Davignon used a rifle to shoot the dog - which belonged to neighbor Bobbi Jo Roberts - after it allegedly attacked Davignon’s wife. He said he didn’t want to shoot it, according to Richardson.
If convicted, Davignon could face a year in prison, a $1,000 fine or both.
