Deputy Constable charged with horse abuse |

Houston, TX Precinct 7 Deputy Constable Gerald Johnson has been charged with animal cruelty.
(Photo courtesy of KHOU TV) The Harris County Livestock Division took swift action during the
first week of April because Johnson’s two horses were so thin that their bones were sticking out. A
2-1/2 year old mare was so thin, she had no strength at all. The other horse
that was younger was so malnourished it was difficult for her to lift herself
up into the trailer. Upon lowering the trailer, the horse was eventually
able to walk in.
The attending doctor stated that both horses were abused and neglected with internal parasites and unable to obtain nourishment from whatever they eat.
Judge Dale Gorczynski wanted to see for himself what the County Livestock Division described as ‘pitiful. At his hearing, Johnson voluntarily gave up the horses to the SPCA. He showed no emotion.

old mare was euthanized because she was too ill.
Johnson will not be allowed to work as a law enforcement officer for at least ten years if convicted of animal cruelty.
