Bit off the head of a parakeet

Washington, DC

June 3, 1998

George William Adams, 38, also known as William G. Adams and Skip Adams-Taylor, received 40 months in prison in Anchorage Alaska for being a felon in possession of a gun.

He was convicted in 1980 of strangling a woman he met in Washington DC disco and biting the head off her parakeet because, he said "the bird's chirping made him nervous". He served 15 years then skipped out on parole, fled to Alaska and became a clerk for the Barrows Office of the State Department of Corrections.

As part of his cover, he proclaimed to be an animal rights activist, using his state computer to protest an Eskimo seal hunt.

When Adams finishes his federal sentence, he will be returned to Virginia to serve 15 more years for the murder conviction.  He was never charged for the animal cruelty.
