Animal cruelty charges have been laid against a West Kootenay resident.

A Glade man is facing charges after his neighbors cat was impaled with a metal spike...the siamese cat died from extensive damage to his internal organs.

If convicted, the man could face a maximum fine of 5-thousand dollars and up to 5 years in jail and a lifetime ban on owning animals.
