64 cats were taken by the SPCA, 9 had to be immediately euthanized and an unknown number of cats remain inside the home. The home was declared unfit for habitation.
The Winters have two weeks to clean up their home and possibly return. They voluntarily surrendered the animals to the SPCA so they would not have to face criminal charges and the cats should be available for adoption within a few days.
Officials deem this case as a classic example of animal hoarding.
