One Wolf-hybrid dead – four found neglected in man’s backyard

(Photo courtesy of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office) Jimmy Walton age 43, a member of a local Wolf Rescue Organization that is not officially sanctioned or licensed by any national or state shelter or rescue organizations, has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty.

Largo Police arrested Walton after they discovered one dead and four neglected wolf-hybrids in his backyard at 424 Seventh Avenue NE.  Police stated that the surviving animals were severely malnourished and suffered from flea infestations.  Authorities stated the dead animal suffered from neglect, parasitism, anemia and starvation.

Walton claimed he was caring for two of the animals since January 2006 and three since May 2006.  He stated they were in good condition when he first took custody of them.
