35 animals rescued

Kelsey Township, MO

June 14, 2006

Authorities found several dead animals and others with poor care or provisions in an animal neglect action carried out with a search warrant on June 14th at a Kelsey Township property. Authorities stated that it was the most ‘unsanitary’ home ever seen.

Two horses, a goat, eight rabbits, 14 dogs and 10 cats were seized from the property. The remains of two cats in the house and a rabbit around a barn were also found.  The condition of some of the surviving animals was described to be so bad that one horse, several dogs and all 10 of the cats had to be euthanized.

On Wednesday, August 9th, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Investigator Sgt. Marleen Hall stated that an investigation is continuing and charges in the matter are pending.
