Attorney General Henry McMaster's says he will prosecute a dogfighting case
that involves 8 people including 1 man who was already out on bail on dogfighting
charges when he was arrested again.
53 grams of crack cocaine, 28 grams of cocaine and 30 grams of marijuana were seized. $14,000 is the street value of the drugs seized and $6,000 in cash was also seized along with 39 pit bull in the raid.
Captain Allen Daley says, the dogs are pretty vicious towards each other but the County Veterinarian, Dr. Robert Cook, believes the dogs can be adopted. Dr. Cook believes the dogs were used more for protecting property rather than fighting. The dogs are underweight and are on the road to rehab.

The charges against the 8 people arrested include trafficking crack cocaine, cocaine possession, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and ill treatment of animals. The pit bulls seized were found chained to stakes dee in the woods.
Burris, is out on bond, and says the $20,000 worth of drugs and cash seized belong to Frankie Wilson - the man renting the house that sits behind her home. As for the dogs, she says they stayed behind a fence. They are her husband's pets and she says she never saw them. The dogs are being held at the Sheriff's Department's Animal Shelter.
Wright, age 37, was charged in December 2006 with animal fighting in Clarendon County. The AG's office might seek to have Wright's bail in the Clarendon County case revoked.
AG McMaster formed a taskforce in 2004 to prosecute animal fighting after a request from local prosecutors. In September 2006 the AG's office prosecuted 2 Sumter County cases that lead to convictions.
