A Bangor Township man may face charges of animal cruelty for attempting to drown his cat in the Kawkawlin River Monday morning.
Troopers from Bay City's Michigan State Police post responded to a complaint of a man tossing a cat into the river.
The home-owner "was upset the cat had clawed a rug, carried it to the Kawkawlin River, and tossed it in," said Trooper Harry Rice, who was at the scene on Old Kawkawlin in Bangor Township. "His wife was able to fish it out," he added.
The case has been sent to the Bay County Prosecutor's office for animal cruelty charges, Rice said, with Prosecutor Kurt Asbury adding that the case was still under investigation.
