5 kittens covered in hot cooking oil |
Buffalo, NY Erie County |
August 12, 2006 |
A cat and her kittens are resting in the Buffalo Animal Shelter today, August 13th after investigators say they were covered in hot cooking oil. Buffalo Police and Animal Control Officers discovered the kittens in an apartment at 1173 West Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
Police state that Otis Johnson who lives in the apartment owns the kittens. Animal Control Officers report that Johnson was cooking for a friend and left the room. Animal Control Officer Chuck Loubert stated Johnson had several pork chops in a frying pan full of grease and it is alleged that the other gentleman grabbed three of the kittens, threw them in the frying pan and started swishing them around, then wiped them on the wall.
AC Officer Loubert stated that the Police did a great job of responding to the apartment so quickly, as well as a veterinarian who checked out the kittens.
Police state that Johnson did nothing to prevent the scalding, but they do not plan to file criminal charges against him. The man who attacked the kittens will be charged with animal cruelty on Monday, August 14th.
