2 dogs were rescued on Wednesday morning, August 2nd.
Alert neighbors, though familiar with hearing the dogs bark every day, noticed
that one of the dogs, a German Shepherd-mix was yelping. The dog was chained
up and had gotten itself wrapped around a stump, unable to get to its water.
With temperatures climbing to 100 degrees, the Crowe’s knowing
that their neighbors don’t arrive home until after 7 p.m., called Animal Control.
Dog Warden Sandy Merry stated that when she arrived at 12
Palmer Lane at 11:20 a.m., the temperature was 95 degrees. The dog was at
least 7 feet away from his water and choking on his chain. She found a second
dog tied to the back steps, but that dog had access to its water bowl. Neither
animal had access to adequate shade.
