Randy Eugene Jackson, 39, of 6143 Gilbert School Road
was charged by Greene County Animal Control Officer Johnny Exum
on Monday, August 7th, with one count of animal cruelty after he
was seen throwing kittens from the window of his truck Friday morning.
A witness told Officer
Exum and Pitt County authorities that at least three kittens were
thrown from Jackson’s truck as he traveled Edward’s Bridge Road into Pitt County about 7:30 a.m.
on Friday. Jackson reached speeds of 65 mph near N.C.903.
Exum stated that none of the kittens were located
in either county. The witness reported to authorities that at least one of
the kittens appeared to have a broken leg, but all ran away when they hit
the ground.
Jackson was released from custody on an unsecured
bond.
