62-year old man and his dog killed

Salvador Chavo Marquez, 25, appeared briefly today, August 8^th, before Orange County Superior Court Judge Pamela L Isles in Harbor Justice Center in Laguna Niguel.  His arraignment for killing a 62-year old San Clemente man and his dog was postponed until August 25^th.

Marquez (DOB 1/3/81) is accused of stabbing and killing Stephen Clark and his small dog in Clark’s home on Esplande Avenue on Sunday, August 6^th, then stealing Clark’s car and fleeing the scene.

Marquez faces charges of murder, animal cruelty, use of a deadly weapon and unlawful taking of a vehicle.  He is being held in Santa Ana’s Men’s Central Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Marquez next court date is 1/8/07.
