1 Puppy survives drowning attempt, 1 dies

Walthourville, GA  Liberty County

August 10, 2006

Curtis Mason, a Fort Steward soldier, stated he went to a pond behind Savannah Tech to relax. A bag bobbing in the water caught his attention so he waded out into knee high water to get it and found two puppies inside, clinging to life.  Mason had gone to the Walthourville pond off Airport Road to relax when he spotted the pillowcase in the water.

Mason is planning on adopting Lucky out of one of the soldiers in his battalion in the 3rd Infantry Division.

Anyone having information about this case should call the Liberty County Sheriff's Department at 912-876-4555.
