Unknown Cats mass grave found Silver Creek, TX April to December, 1995

In late December Marlyn Franks found the corpse of a neighbor's cat in her backyard.

Since April, at least 8 cats have been found dead in the area - one with a bullet hole on its skeleton.

Last September, Franks and a neighbor found her cat Callie, dead in a greenbelt area near the soccer fields at Timber Path and Timberwilde Drive.  They were shocked to discover the remains of 3 other cats underneath Callie.

Larry Johnson reported that one of his cats was shot in the front leg with a pellet gun about a year and a half ago.  The veterinarian bills totaled $250.

Other neighbors report finding dead cats in their yards or on streets.  Another was found on January 20th, 1996 with no visible sign of physical trauma.

The police have told the neighbors that they cannot do anything without catching the perpetrator in the act.  Bryan Griffin, a San Antonio Fear Free Environment Officer from the Prue Rd. police substation, said the mysterious cat deaths appear to be the work of a neighbor who has become frustrated with a perceived cat problem in the area.
