On July 7, 2008 Tawnya Caruth, age 24 of Gilbert, IA reported cruelty to animals. Caruth indicated while her cat was outside, an unknown party had shot the cat in the rear hind quarter with an arrow. The cat was taken to Iowa State University Emergency Veterinarian Clinic where it is being treated.
