Flo Rida’s tour bus and its occupants are wanted by the police in Lexington, Kentucky. Flo Rida, aka Tramar Dillard, is currently on tour to promote his new album, “R.O.O.T.S”.
An unknown number of witnesses alleged that two men from Flo Rida’s tour bus killed a rabbit. The men returned to the bus, which then drove away. Flo Rida’s tour bus has huge ads done on its exterior so it was easily identified. The animal cruelty killing allegedly happened on Wednesday, March 25.
According to Lexington, Kentucky, television station WKYT, police are still looking for the MC's tour bus — which is wrapped in a huge advertisement for his album and single — because of allegations from witnesses that two men exited the vehicle in Lexington and committed an act of cruelty on an animal.
A witness told an animal-control officer that they reportedly saw the men kill a rabbit, get back on the bus and drive away. Lexington Police, Kentucky State Police and Lexington Animal Control began investigating the incident immediately. A spokesperson for the Lexington Police confirmed that the department has issued an alert in an attempt to find the bus, but had no further information on the alleged incident.
WKYT reported that at this point animal-control officers just want to question the people who were on the bus.
Update 3/26/09: In his first interview since serious animal cruelty allegations created a media storm surrounding his entourage, Flo Rida spoke out to his hometown radio station Y-100 in Miami.
The rapper told the DJ he nor anyone on his tour bus had anything to do with killing the animal.
"This is just a misunderstanding," Flo Rida said. "We were just stopped at an intersection, and we saw this man who was strung out on drugs dismantling an animal."
Flo Rida said police have this man on tape or have a picture of him. He goes on to say the man came up to their bus with the dead animal in hand.
"We couldn't believe it and in no way condone this mans actions. We just want to apologize to the people of Kentucky, for all of this attention, even though we had nothing to do with it---other than being there," he said.
"While no one in my party was in any way involved in any incident, the media report that I saw was sickening. As an animal lover, I would never want to see cruelty inflicted upon them."
A 27 NEWSFIRST viewer called in to say he saw the whole thing. And that Flo Rida and his entourage had nothing to do with killing the animal, in fact they were trying to help the man.
Another witness reported according to an Animal Control officer, the tour bus stopping the location, where two men got out of the bus. It is after an incident that reportedly happened on Nicholasville road at Jesselin Drive. The witness told police men from the bus committed an act of cruelty to an animal.
Police have said the animal was a rabbit, and without being graphic, they say the witness reportedly saw the men kill it and then leave.
Immediately, Lexington Police, Kentucky State Police and Lexington Animal Control began investigating the incident.
Then police put out an attempt to locate for the tour bus, which we are told was heading to Columbus, Ohio.
In February, Dillard was charged with child abuse.
