Theresa Marie Johnson of Miami, Oklahoma has been arrested after
officers of the Miami Police Department were contacted and it was reported
that she had been away from home for eight days with no one attending to her
animals.
Authorities
found three kittens, two puppies, three dogs and a cat in distress without
food or water. The puppies and kittens caged in pet carriers, a dog was chained
to the porch and two others were found in the garage. The officers tried
to catch a cat loose in the home, but were unable to find the animal. All
the rescued pets were taken to the Miami Animal Shelter.
Theresa Johnson was taken into custody on
Thursday, July 20th. She was charged on Friday in Ottawa County
District Court with cruelty to animals, a felony, and bond was set at $10,000.
She remains in the Ottawa County jail with a hearing set
for 9:30 a.m. on Monday,
July 24, 2006.
