A Cambridge man will stand trial next month on animal cruelty after being accused of abusing a dog.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says 48-year-old Willie Green Johnson of Douglas Street is charged with animal cruelty, restraining a dog without access to water and restraining a dog without proper shelter.

A trial date of Jan. 12 is scheduled for Johnson.
