Police charged William Williamson, 19, of 5 Denton St., Apt. 7, with two counts of cruelty to animals, one a class A felony, the other a class A misdemeanor.
Lt. George McCarthy said Williamson threw the cat against a wall three to four times, killing it, and then walked outside and tossed the carcass onto a neighbor's roof.
Police learned of the dead cat when they were called to his home for a "check condition" complaint. A roommate told officers about Williamson killing the cat, McCarthy said.
McCarthy said a necropsy is being done on the cat to determine its cause of death.
