children and 68 Pit Bulls rescued |

Two
children were removed from a home in Wichita on Tuesday, July 25th, when Police
Officers and a State Social Worker went to check on the welfare of an 11-year
old boy and 5-year old girl and found 68 Pit Bulls. The children’s father
insisted there were no children at the residence and slammed the door, but
after officials heard the children, they forced their way inside. Both children
were placed in protective custody.
After
obtaining a search warrant, Wichita Police Officers began removing the 68
Pit Bulls. Some bore scars, suggesting they were used for fighting. Wichita Police Capt. Randy Landen stated that the dogs were bred at the home
for sale on the Internet. The dogs were taken to a Wichita shelter.
Cpt. Landen stated that the children and their mother
had been living at the home since March.
The
father was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, obstructing the legal
process and child endangerment.
